An Iterative Approach towards Single stage Axial Fan Design using Off Design Prediction

A single-stage axial fan having a pressure ratio of 1.01 is designed in the current study. The design chosen based on power available from existing motor (2.2 kW). space for flow was generated by varying specific and geometrical parameters suitable steps, using program written MATLAB. varied are mass rate, inlet Mach number, angle, rotor speed. that were hub to tip ratio, aspect blade solidity. Using these as input variables applying free vortex theory 3-dimensional design, aerodynamic carried out. Performance like coefficient, stage loading degree reaction, diffusion factor, De Haller’s angles calculated at blade’s hub, mean, tip. Total 92160 data points obtained combination parameters. Several constraints applied optimise in-house manufacturing limitations. initial reduced 82 constraints. To further reduce number space, off-design performance evaluated each points. Following this, one point selected optimum range operation, while considering Mellor charts, profile exit angles. NACA 65-410 airfoil with stagger 55 degrees an incidence 6 performance.
